I’m not heading anywhere exotic this Easter - just up to Yorkshire - but the transport is pretty cool! I’m travelling on the East Coast Skyfall train, which for a Bond fan makes it a pretty awesome start to the long weekend.

Now, where’s Daniel Craig with the tea trolley?

(Gosh… I hope there isn’t too much of a Q in the buffet car…)

(For the record, the train was a little late departing from King’s Cross, but only by 007 minutes…)

(I ‘M’ going to stop now…)

We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we’re aproaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter:
‘Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended’ They pay for their order, take the two and leave.

I ask my friend: “What are those ‘suspended’ coffees?”
My friend: “Wait for it and you will see.”

Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and four ‘suspended’. While I still wonder what’s the deal with those ‘suspended’ coffees I enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful view towards the square infront of the café. Suddenly a man dressed in shabby clothes who looks like a beggar comes in throught the door and kindly asks
‘Do you have a suspended coffee ?’

It’s simple - people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm bevarage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples, but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwitch or a whole meal.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have such cafés or even grocery stores in every town where the less fortunate will find hope and support ? If you own a business why don’t you offer it to your clients… I am sure many of them will like it.

Travelling so much last year presented certain sartorial challenges - but these are three of my favourite looks of the year, despite the fact that I was living out of a suitcase!

Some favourite outfits from my travels. I loved wearing that ruffled skirt in Vienna; it felt like a piece of sumptuous confectionery! The hotel balcony was in Malaga, which was so much more beautiful than I had expected; that sunrise from my suite was incredible. It’s been a while!

I changed my job in the summer, which means that I’m no longer jetting around the world on a regular basis; but finally, I’m away from home again! This week, I’m in Paris for a romantic pre-NYE break with my other half.

Last night, we rode Metro 1 from the Louvre to Nation, and the train’s decor caught my eye! Aren’t these striped seats and walls fantastic? So fun and chic! Have you seen any good metro interiors? If so, I’d love to see them!

Dr. Akiyo Kano from goalchasers.com took a 10-day trip to Spain traveling only with a purse. Very inspiring minimalist packing. Read about it all here.

My goal for traveling is just to have a carry-on + purse/camera bag. But seeing that people can successfully travel for extended trips with even a smaller amount than that, is pretty exciting. I’d never be able to get it down to something so small since I like to carry my dslr and a couple lenses, but it’s great being able to see what other people can do.

Last night, I arrived in Tokyo after a great day at Seoul’s Incheon airport, where I enjoyed the lovely Asiana business class lounge and had fun stocking up on Korean beauty brands. I found a couple of new BB creams in duty free, and some great lip balms in a cool beauty store called Skin Food.

The weather in Tokyo was beautiful when I arrived - that late afternoon, golden sun. I was through immigration and customs in no time, raced to the Narita Express and made the 18:15 with time to pick up an ice cold coffee frapuccino along the way. I met my brother at Jiyugaoka station, and we went to a little Turkish hole-in-the-wall for delicious doner kebabs and cold beer before heading home. I’m ready to enjoy a couple of days off!
